Meet Miranda Allarie

Centeral Alberta Birth Doula and photographer

Hey! I'm Miranda.  I'm a wife and mama to two amazing little boys.

My passion for birth began after I gave birth to my first son Hudson, and realized I didn't actually know what was happening, during or after.  Honestly, I still don't know what happened that day.

I was someone who wanted all the interventions and fully medicated births because that's what I thought was best.  When I was pregnant with my second Roman, I was very happy when they offered me a 38 week induction after experiencing preterm labor at 31 weeks.  Now that I've learnt more my perspective has changed for myself.

That's why I'm so passionate about doula care.  Because I was once too scared to hire a doula.  I didn't think a doula would support my choice for a medicated birth or an induction.  But I now know that I was wrong.  I am deeply committed to supporting every kind of birth.  I first noticed birth photography on Instagram and fell in love.  I wished I'd had even a few iPhone photos from my own births.  I used to say "I could never be a photographer" because I was someone who didn't reach for my phone.  I wanted to be fully present in every moment.

Now I realize that's exactly why I'm a good photographer.  I know the power or presence.  I understand how sacred it is to experience birth without feeling the need to capture it all yourself.  That's my job, to support you, and to help you remember.

You can't go back and relive your births, but through photos you can hold onto those one-time, unpredictable moments.  I would be honored to help you do just that.
